To allow non admin user login remotely in XP or any client OS you have to add the user to Remote Desktop Users group and should modify Local Security Policies for remote desktop service / terminal services.

Open computer management with compmgmt.msc command, select Local Users and Groups from the left pane, there add the particular user to Remote Desktop Users group from the properties of that user.
Before proceeding to login, Open Local Security Policy snap in and check Remote Deskop Users listed Allow logon through Terminal Services under User Rights Assignment
and also Remote Desktop Users not listed under Deny logon through Terminal Services.
